Tell us a little bit about yourself, your role in your business and about your company.
My name is Chelsea Stebner, I am wife to Mark, Mom to Kate and Allison and Dog Mom to Bella (our Chief Morale Officer at Parr) and new baby Labrador Hazel. I love nature, walking, reading, cooking and baking and finding adventures.
My role at Parr Auto Body formally is Managing Partner, informally though, you’ll catch me cleaning vehicles, driving customers, shuffling parts – basically doing whatever it takes to keep our team moving forward. Parr has been around since 1952 and in 2022 we’re celebrating 70 years in business. We have been locally owned and operated since the beginning. We’re currently owned by myself and my three partners; all of us ‘grew up’ in this business.
Describe your culture. Why is your company a great place to work?
Our culture is often described as family. We have a lot of fun, we might bicker once in a while, we are sometimes inappropriate, but 100% of the time we have each other’s backs inside the business but also just as importantly, in our whole lives.
What is something you are proud of about your company?
I am so proud of our team as they continue to come together and face challenges, especially over the last few years with COVID, the rapidly changing auto industry, ongoing supply chain issues as well as the skilled labour shortages. We continue to persevere through these many challenges and make sure that we have fun every day, while ensuring that we are safely and properly fixing vehicles that carry families in our community.
Why does your benefits & pension plan matter? What’s the impact to your business?
Our vision is impacting people and community accidentally on purpose through our world class collision repair. That vision encompasses all stakeholders to Parr; the most important being our team that works for us. Teaching our young team to value themselves, their health, and their long term plans for their lives, gives them information and tools to build better lives. When we have healthier, happier people working in our business, the jobs get done quicker, we have more fun and we earn more profit. It’s win/win.
What is your most creative/unique reward or favourite workplace benefit?
One of our rewards is our flexibility in our workplace. We know that people have families, and small kids and family always comes first. We appreciate our team, who invests in our business and helps us to build it, and we want to ensure that if they need to be there for their families, we’ll do our best to accommodate that!
